Hey Brad,

I think point #1 is particularly important here. Like just about everything else you do when creating a small business, having a business model is imperative. It's not like you can just blog and expect the money to fall from the sky. That doesn't mean you should expect to make money from day one. Few business models allow you to do that in any business. But certainly you should have a rough idea from the beginning how your blog might someday turn a profit or function as part of the marketing strategy for another business even if you haven't got all the details worked out yet.
