The Web and modern business-world are truly international, multi-cultural arenas. So how does one become multi-cultural? Drinking a pint of Guinness? Shopping at IKEA? Watching The Sopranos? Not really. A serious and irreverent look at cultural aspects of the 21st century business...

Hi Yoni,

Your post is actually a good reminder of being aware of cultural differences and I liked your tips. One contributor on BizSugar Cindy King also has a lot of great information on her website.

The differences also exist between Western countries as per your example of soccer which we sometimes forget.

Regards,

Susan

Susan, as always, THANKS" for your feedback and kind comments! To me, the soccer/"football" issue is the preeminent example of the American cultural thinking. Soccer never really caught on in The States so people there are surprised by how fanatical the rest of the world is about it. For me, growing up in America was also a very "cultural-centric" experience. There we tended to think that the entire world shared our beliefs, opinions, customs, etc. It has taken me a long time to figure out that it's not so! All the best,

Yoni
