There maybe times where other people are just better than you and you have to accept it before your beloved business goes down.
It is sometimes called the last resort and that is the one that hurts the most.

Often enough and then the company either stagnates or fails. I can certainly understand why someone would feel reluctant to recruit someone else to act as CEO of the company. There is a great deal of emotion invested in the company. No one will ever feel as intensely about the business. There may be other reasons such as not knowing what to do next for work or getting cold feet/lacking trust in the chosen replacement.
Underneath it all, if the owner/founder doesn't want to give up the role of CEO, then other choices have to be made:
~Is this a lifestyle company?
~Am I willing to learn what skills I'm good at and what needs attention?
~Am I willing to be humble myself and learn?
This determines if the plan for growth can be effectively implemented.
