I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

As far as the package, several things. First I noticed, there is a postmark from the Netherlands. It looks like it took a long route to get here! Second, I just saw a prior missed delivery notice.

Hi Rivkah,

In my country there are discussions happening at the moment about women serving on the front line. The head of our largest bank, not to mention the prime minister are women and I do wonder if women actually were part of the problem regarding glass ceiling. This is a generalisation I know and would be interested in your thoughts as well as others.

Susan,

Hi. The female combat was actually the result of a lawsuit about a decade ago. Since, female soldiers have participated in many operations and a female F-16 pilot reportedly participated in the bombing of the Syrian nuclear reactor in 2008.

We have had a female Prime Minister here, Golda Meir, but it seems for a long time there was that glass ceiling. It seems that the military equality has done much to level the playing field.

She could be Celtic. There are immigrants here from every country in the world.

Anyway, the reason I posted this is that I have read several articles recently about why the glass ceiling for women is disappearing here and why so many women are rising to previously unattainable positions of power. The conclusion? It is the equality in the workplace which is emanating from equality in combat. If a man is going to take orders from a woman under fire, he better get damn used to taking orders from a woman in the boardroom.

Interesting video, Rivkah. I think though that the majority of the Israeli army is still "segregated"- the women mostly still get the "soft", non-combat jobs. This unit is highly unique; I wonder how it got started...

And regarding why women seem to be breaking the glass ceiling in Israel: it could be because Israeli women tend to be stronger, "harder," and more feisty than in other countries. It's a part of growing up in Israel and having to serve in the army in the first place.
