Do you own your own productivity system or following one that’s defined by someone else?

This is a question Francis Wade asks in his guest post.

Hi Tim. Funny you should mention him... Here's how my book starts: (my comments continue below...)

------------------------------------------------------

Blame this all on Eli Goldratt.

He's the author of The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement, a book on optimizing factory production.

Between semesters as a graduate student at Cornell in 1988, I worked at AT&T Bell Labs commuting each week from New Jersey to their Shreveport Works in Louisiana. Someone recommended the book, written in the form of a business fable and I started reading it over lunch.

It consumed my attention and I could barely put it down."

-------------------------------------------------------

So, to answer your question in a nutshell, yeah... I have heard of the guy! It sounds like you may be making a deeper link that I realize, however - do let me know if you'd like to discuss. Contact me via http://replytofrancis.info if you'd like.

Tim: Do you know if you guest blogger, Francis Wade, is familiar with Dr. Goldratt's Theory of Constraints?
