The real golden rule is to base your business on the trader principle, exchanging value for value. 1 troy ounce of gold is an objective value, it is real money. The author of the post is talking about selfishness in a negative way. You have to start with yourself and your business activities, otherwise you can't monetize your kindness at all. The opposite of selfishness is altruism and the sacrifice of a higher value for a lower value is leading to death and destruction as the end result.
