I don't know why people wait until the new year to start a new regime. I guess it's the dawn of a new year bringing with it a new level of hope. But it is the first step you take to changing that matters, not the date.

Growing up I never heard of New Year's resolutions - about as close as it got was giving up candy for Lent. I was 18 or 19 at a New Year's Eve party when I 1st heard the concept (I probably resolved to party a lot more the next year)! It's a tradition I never really took seriously. If something needs to be done, why wait till next year?
