You can't expect to get the sale 100% of the time. Sometimes the sale is lost to conditions beyond your control. But it does help to understand more about those deals that slip through your fingers when they just may have been saved by foresight and a little more training.

I wonder if most of this talk about the one that got away really boils down to an understanding of who your customer is, who will likely never buy your product or service even if they may show some interest and how to spend more time cultivating the former while identifying early and not wasting time on the latter.
