100% agree. I have written extensively about target selection and customer acquisition which apart from product to market fit are the business killers or platform for success.

Hi Brian,

I think this may go way beyond being confused by the sales process. My suspicion is that many small businesses and startups don't start with 1.) a clear idea of what they are going to sell and to whom 2.) a good yardstick to measure whether their business model is working. Ideas like building a brand and creating value are all very well. But at the end of the day, if you don't have a method of generating revenue (i.e. selling products or services) you're going to be in for a very unpleasant surprise.
