I agree, bloggers and essay writers are different. I have had experience with technical writing before and I really had to use formal English and good grammar because it was meant to inform people. But with blogging, it is like a 360 degree turn because while it is still meant to inform, you have to be more enthusiastic and entertaining. For me blogging is like writing in a conversational way, as if you are just having normal talks with a friend.
