I think I get where you're coming from (i.e. trying to be funny rather than insensitive), but things like serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (Prozac), Tourettes syndrome, and incontinence are real problems (or solutions in the case of the SRI) that people who suffer from them must in reality deal with on a daily basis. In the old days, fat jokes & ethnic humor were "in", too.
The advice was very good.

Public speaking is one of those things where, in my opinion, it really depends upon the venue. Speaking in front of people sometimes makes me a bit nervous but I usually just do it by the seat of my pants. This, of course, is in small settings. I haven't been asked to speak in front of a really large group, so I'm not sure what would happen there.
