Optimizing your latest blog post is great, but when a reader arrives, they need to like what they see and stay a while. That's the power of a great blog post opening, says Belinda Weaver of Copywrite Matters. In this post at ProBlogger, Belinda gives a look at how cool openings like the one to "The Walking Dead" TV series grab an audience and won't let them go. Do your blog post openings do the same?

I am not into zombies and so called "living dead" people! ;) Personally, I have problem with using the word "killing" as a slang word for something positive. But maybe I am too sensitive as a person?! ;) Could you use a blog opening in the same way as a opening of a book? Shouldn't a blog post be geared to be short, sweet and to the point? I am probably arguing for this position due to my nature as a pundit blogger.

Hi Belinda,

Well, your opening certainly grabbed me. So neat to see your post shared on the BizSugar community. I'm wondering how much you worry about SEO while writing your attention grabbing openings. I guess I'm asking the age old question, do you write for humans or search engines...or is it realistically a bit of both? Readers must find your post first, of course, usually through a Google search. But once they get there, optimization is not enough to hold them.
