Historically, some companies haven’t looked kindly upon inbound “deep links,” or links to pages on their site that aren’t the homepage or another top-level page. Despite this mentality, albeit dwindling, deep links can actually be really good for a website. Here’s a list of five benefits provided to a website by deep inbound links:

I think if I was a search engine and I looked at a website and all of the links pointed to the home page I might find this a bit unusual and I would probably devalue some of these links.
If I can get a 60:40 split or thereabouts of links to the home page and deep links then I find that works quite well with my search rankings.
