If we have a product and want to make your brand popular in the market, publicity is the best way to help your brand known by people. I agree that with use publicity you can also improve the rank of yoour site, these two has strong relation, let say if you use publicity means you share to people in order to know your brand broadly, in fact many people will come into your site and this will bring many traffic that increase rank in the search engine

I fail to see the advantages of advertising your web page/blog on a printed magazine! I think relying on the costumers likeliness to remember your URL, or where he left the magazine that mentioned your URL, or even to remember he felt slightly interested in what you could offer, so next time he logs on the web to check it out it's just naive!
