Some answers for the ideal lengths of tweets and titles and everything in between. Many of these could have been answered with “it depends,” but where’s the fun in that? Solid research exists to show the value of writing, tweeting, and posting at certain lengths. Here’s the best of what I found.

@Lyceum, I think there is no ideal length in my opinion. If you have a 15 minute pod-cast and it has good content in it then perfect, if you have a 60 minute pod-cast and it has good content throughout the whole time period, then perfect! But if you are trying to put 60 minutes of content into 15 minutes than that is overwhelming to the listener, or if you look at the opposite end of the spectrum if you are trying to fill 60 minutes with only 15 minutes of content the listener will get bored. The time should be catered around the quality content you have at hand.

Hopefully this helps!

Hi, Chelsea.

Thanks for your comment. You're absolutely right that there should be no minimum duration of a podcast as long as the content is good. But when you have lots of useful information that you can't fit in 60 mins - then, better split the podcast in two parts, because it's difficult to keep a listener engaged and focused for more than an hour. Right?

Ralli: I have done some small webinars with business team members. I am a podcaster, so I like this kind of format! :)

Ralli Georgieva: Thanks for your reply! I have had podcast interviews for max. 60 minutes in one show. Are you a podcaster?

Martin, since most of our company projects are tech-related and need visual demonstration, we prefer webinars. I have experience both as a host and as a presenter in webinars. And you?

Good yardstick. With regard to title tag for seo - as per my research in 70% of the cases Google does not show more than 55 characters. Especially seo have this habit of starting each word with capital letter that increases the pixel size.

That's true, Harishbali. They say the ideal length of a SEO title is between 40 and 70 characters, but, as you mentioned, in most cases Google shows up to 55-60 chars.

Fascinating post on the ideal length of online content. I have to count the number of characters in my comment now! ;)

What is the ideal length for a podcast? 15, 30 or 60 minutes? It depends...

Lyceum, it very much depends on how extensive the topic is - but if you have a podcast that's longer than 60 minutes, you better split it into 2 parts.
