When it comes to lead generation, online media is one of the most powerful tools at a brand’s disposal. Leveraging this tool properly can raise consumer awareness of the brand, improve customer loyalty and increase the brand’s overall influence on the market. To get the most out of online media, however, brands must use a variety of strategies. In general, these strategies will fall under one of three categories: owned media, paid media and earned media.

It can be a little confusing with social eg 'social' as a channel can be owned (ie the brand's social channel), paid (ie FB advertising) and earned (eg a customer recommends your site via their social channel).

Earned media isn't necessarily created just by social, it's only one of many ways. But it can be how earned media is propagated.

Usually paid and owned media create earned media, so depending on your brand, I would concentrate on owned and paid, with a smaller mix of earned media. After testing a few markets you can then adjust your marketing strategy accordingly.

Isn't earned media mainly created by using social media? What do you think is a good marketing mix of owned, paid and earned media?
