If your plan is to ultimately author your own blog, but you need some practice to find your voice or to build your comfort level, guest blogging on someone else’s blog can be a terrific first-step opportunity.

Agreed Bill. Guest blogging is an excellent opportunity to promote yourself and build inbound links to your own Website or blog while taking your message to what is potentially a whole new audience. Of course, I use the word "promote" with care because, as is the case with your blog itself, posts should share value with readers which is usually all the promotion you really need.

Some great tips here. I think guest posting is a great marketing strategy--even if you already have a blog.
