Choosing the right niche when you start over is the crucial thing and a fail at that point is a total fail. Great article. Thanks!

Hi Laura,

Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful post with the BizSugar community. Regarding point #1, I'm sure you're aware there's some hot debate these days whether it's always good advice to tell someone to follow their passions in business. After all, suppose there really is no market for the things you are most passionate about? Is it really your feeling that passion will always lead an entrepreneur to a profitable niche? It would be so great if you could share your thoughts on this in the BizSugar comment section for the benefit of the whole community. It would also be great if you could upload a thumbnail of your smiling face on BizSugar so that other members of the community could get to know you a bit better.

Hi Heather,

Thank you for your comment!

I think it depends on what it is that you're passionate about really. I agree though that often there is no market for the things we are most passionate about and if that is the case, then I would look into something else that I am really into and that I like doing/learning about. Most people are interested in several things, even if it doesn't quite reach the passion-level.

I certainly don't think that just following a passion will lead to a profitable niche but I do think that the chances of success are improved if you do something that you like. I believe it has a massive effect on drive and motivation.

Thanks again for the comment and also pointing out that I had no photo! I've uploaded one now :)

Great pointers. I'm not as anal about niche choosing as some people. I'm more so interested if it's something that I have at least like and that I can create a good amount of content on.

I think writing about something you like makes it much easier to create content but obviously the niche also needs to be profitable - after all, we all would like to make an income out of this in the end :)

Thank you for the comment :)
