Awesome point. Though the author feature is usually seen as more of a marketing thing, it's true that it's a great way to identify content as yours. Although, another thing to remember is that search engines have a pretty good idea what content was published first and will rank accordingly (sometimes.) This is not necessarily the case if a newer version containing some older content is published later, but it is definitely enough to catch actual scraping--which is also probably also the best argument not to engage in this behavior as a "shortcut" to creating your own content.
