Why is it worth your time and effort to look at other people’s submissions? Well, for the same reason that you take the time to speak with people at networking meetings - because the value to you of participating depends on the relationships you build with other members.

They're still in 'broadcast' mode. Takes time to change.

Just as in life many people want to see how much they can get out of something and how little they have to put in.
It's kind of crappy. I liken it to people who have no incentive to get off of welfare or children who are never disciplined for bad behavior . As long as there is a payoff, the negative behavior is reinforced and there is absolutely no incentive to change.

I can't say much about the hit and run, some will do it for whatever reasons. In some cases they may have read the article on the person's blog and do not need to read it again and just vote and they do not have anything they want to comment on.
Although it can be frustrating to all of you who support this site so well, I don't think you can have rules or force people to comment, read the articles in full etc. With so much discussion I am sure it will sort itself out. Look forward to reading more posts later today.
Cheers,
Susan

I agree these points are worth repeating. The hit and run is annoying. What's even more annoying though is those that do stick around and cast automatic votes for their same buddies all the time.
