Great post. Online marketers must do everything possible to avoid even the appearance of spam. As a rule of thumb, beyond all these great specifics, I think it's a good idea to turn to the concepts behind permission marketing for guidance. Simply, if someone hasn't asked to receive your marketing message, it's probably a bad idea to send it. This is somewhat overly simplistic, but the points in the post above get more into the nitty gritty.

Great post! Large number of company's really have problems with their emails and they obviously don't know how to fix it because they just keep sending and sending '' flagged '' mails.
