Another interesting way of looking into cross-cultural insights is through movies. You need to give put a little bit of preparation and pay attention, but it works fairly well for some people.
This website is a great resource of this -
Intercultural Film Database - http://www.uni-hildesheim.de/interculturalfilm/index.php
This database has an alphabetical list of movies. There are tips on which parts of the movies to pay attention to and what you can see there. Take your time to read the glossary which explains the terms used. These terms are directly related to cross cultural marketing. When you look at the tips and the glossary it is easy to pick up the cross-cultural differences that come through the movie. And then most of these cultural differences are easy to adapt to business situations.

My next read is: International Communications Strategy: Developments in Cross-cultural Communications, PR and Social Media by Sylvia Cambie. It came out recently on Amazon UK - I've had to wait for Amazon France to catch up - just checked and it's finally there :)

Have you read "Cross-Cultural Business Behavior: Marketing, Negotiating, Sourcing and Managing Across Cultures" by Richard R. Gesteland?

The key thing is to constantly make the effort to develop the international people skills or cross-cultural competence. And that requires a personal effort... which we don't always take time for.
