An outbound link is any link on your site that sends visitors to another site. It could be a link to your social profiles, an article you quoted in a blog post, a local event page, a business partner and so forth. Outbound links can be bittersweet for some site owners. While they might be a great way to provide additional resources for visitors to your site, there is always the chance that once a visitor leaves your site you’ll lose them for good. Even if an outbound link sent them to your company Facebook page, think about how many distractions there are on a Facebook page that could pull that visitor farther away from your company. Outbound links can contribute to the overall user experience of a website, but are they worth the risk?
