I'm sure the title of this post is going to make a few folks upset. Don't worry, the content is going to really make you mad. Not at me, but maybe at yourself, and especially at whoever taught you how to split test.

@Aaron, do you mean you don't think this is a good method? If not, why not?
I'm not an expert, but it seemed like a good technique to me. This is how many drug tests are done. It's safer than accidently losing half of your patients in a 50/50 test.
I meant we don't do testing THE WRONG WAY (50/50) that they mention in the article. Our SEO team liked the article, actually - I handed it off to them.
While I don't know the full details about how we test our ads, I know for a fact that it's not 50/50.
