I really enjoyed your post because it's informative and clear. I agree with you about not relying on Google for traffic because of the very reason you stated. Google changes an algorithm and there goes your business.
I, also agree with you about an unresponsive list. Get rid of them and make room for people who are interested in what you have to offer.
