A good email list is very essential to grow your site or blog. Some people even have to buy other people's lists, so if you have one already, you have to make use of it. Sending regular emails to your list will give you a bigger chance of converting those prospects.

My opinion on popups is that you should weigh the pros and cons and decide what is best on a case-by-case basis. It's not the right fit for every site, but they are extremely effect for increasing opt ins. I don't use them all the time, but I have used them on blogs/sites in 3 or 4 different industries and every time I've had huge gains in conversions. I've also never seen a decrease in page views per visitor or any other statistical indication that they are harming other factors of the site. No one really likes popups, I don't like them, but when it comes to increasing opt ins they are effective.

Great tips, but I am not sure about the suggestion to "use pop ups for opt in forms". I think that feature could feel intruding. What do you say?

I hate pop-up forms. I find them very intrusive and hesitate to share content with them in case my followers find them as annoying as I do. I'm also less likely to sign up in a pop-up form, even if I love the site. Having said that, I believe the statistics indicate they hugely increase sign-ups so I'm obviously an exception.
