Oftentimes, people opt in to e-mail lists—whether it be for newsletters, promotions or information—and then just ignore everything that's sent to them. Those individuals signed up for your e-mails for a reason, even if their actions don't show it. For one reason or another, they've become inactive subscribers. It's your job to figure out a way to get them active again.

John... good find. Yep, with all the social marketing stuff, we need to remember the basics of email marketing. It still works, if you're willing to work it.

Thanks! One thing to consider is that if a subsriber has been inactive for over a year, you should probably drop them. Otherwise, their next response may be the spam button. This goes against direct mail strategy, but it fits email strategy.
