This report by CNN Money.com Small Business examines the role played by small business as the "backbone" of the economic recovery. Though over half of all workers in the U.S. are employed by small businesses loans to this sector by banks in recent months since the economic downturn has fallen noticeably...despite economic assistance poured into the banking systems by the federal government. Officials of the U.S. Small Business Administration insist they are working to improve the situation but financial advisors admit tight lending conditions have increased the challenge not only of starting a small business but of allowing it to survive.
