Since the voyage made 520 years ago, there has been a great deal of controversy surrounding the history of Columbus Day, but the commemoration of his landing in the Americas is a federal holiday, and there are still celebrations serving as a memorial to the accomplishments of this voyager.

Coming from the other side of the Atlantic we were obviously taught history differently. I'm intrigued with this point of view as I love history and knowing all angles to it. You certainly have a point. I am now imagining a world where none of us on different continents knew we existed - wonder what would have happened?
