Every time I pass by McD's there's a big line of cars at the drive-thru, and all around it are fast food joints that are virtually empty. I don't get it - I've eaten there, I know what "wonders or horrors" to expect (Outer Limits reference, there), but I can never figure out why people flock there like lemmings. Kids, I can understand, but I see mostly working adults there. I'll never understand it!

Interesting, though when I lived in the US (I departed in the mid 90s), I never liked fast food. It was always a good old-fashioned diner for me. One of those with the small juke box at the table, a waitress named "Flo' or "Dottie," and the best meatloaf and mashed potatos this side of the Mississippi. All for about 5 bucks. When you compare a shitty sub or McDoody burger, there's no comparison.
That being said (manifesto/rant), great article :)
