Religion is a hot button issue in the United States, with the recent Chick-Fil-A incident highlighting its role in business.

How should entrepreneurs handle this very sensitive issue?

Religion and business should never be mixed just like how the government and church are two separate entities.

I'd say that business should stay as business. I am a Christian and I do have my own set of beliefs - but I'm not going to force other people to believe what I believe. That would make me a bad Christian.

Free speech is alright, but what's the point of making such a statement? What good such statement will make the business world? People should lead by example, not by words.

This is my comment on Small Business Trends Forum on this topic:

Dan Cathy has right to free speech and running the company as he wishes. That said, as a freethinker, I will vote with my wallet and not eat at Chick-Fil-A. If I am hungry for chicken, I can pick some other place, e.g., KFC!

For a sound take on the issue, watch this video (Chick-fil-A or Chick-fil-Gay? Mayors & Muppets Threaten Chicken Chain Over Gay Marriage).
