Social automation saves you time & energy but what do you need to know to avoid the negative impacts of putting your social media marketing on autopilot?

I think that automation is one of the best and most effective ways to have a consistent presence in social media. Thanks for sharing your insights with us.

Thank you! It is not only a time saver but helps with our social media consistency and frequency. Building the relationships w one on one engagement is so important to our success that if we were bogged down w the daily curation and posting, there wouldn't be time for the making the deeper connections.

Suzie: Have you followed the debate with Scott Stratten as a proponent of being authentic, in real-time, and what could happen if you set your social media activities on auto-pilot?

I have read quite a bit about it and I am not 100% automated. Personal engagement is paramount in relationship building.

So Suzie,

What's your rule of thumb? How do you know when you've moved from using this as a time saver to basically creating a situation where your social media no longer feels human?

Hi Heather,

I schedule some, not all of my content and mix in fresh posts but always, always, personally engage on every platform. Our audiences, like ourselves, want and require the human touch. Never make anyone feel like you are on autopilot and don't care.

Building the relationships and having the personal conversations are not only enjoyable but part of the "real" experience.

Heather: How about adjust the grade of automation and real-time social media activities depending on feedback you get via comments, @tweeets, etc.?
