Awesome guest post, Steve. While I know online stores are your thing, I think affiliate links (like online advertising) can be a viable revenue model for online publishers. I can understand concern about readers visiting an affiliate site and then returning to make a purchase later while bypassing your site, but I believe creating an authoritative site with a strong following is the key here. Readers who visit your site again and again are just as likely to use your affiliate links while making a purchase.
