KL: Thanks for your comment. Here is one example:

"Hooray! Somebody signed up for your email digest:

573abac795fbd 573abac796008

[email protected]"

Email address could be valid, but strange name, starting with 573... ;)

Have you heard about Revue newsletter?

I'm not sure--the way the bots work is by using addresses that look real, but the name is fake, so this might be one. Definitely talk to your newsletter folks, but there's several companies out there that can help block bots from signing up. Good luck! ^KL

Hey Martin, here's what my team said: It sounds like a bot is signing up for your newsletter with fake addresses. We had a similar issue with our newsletter subscribe page, and implemented email verification from BriteVerify, which checks if an email address is legit and won’t let it through if it isn't. Might be worth a try! ^KL

Hmmm. There could be a few reasons. Let me reach out to the rest of our team and get back to you. ^KL

KL: Thanks for your understanding. The BizSugar entry system is automatically picking up the title of the source (blog, site), but it looks better without a direct reference in subject line.

I like your tips.

Do you have tips on how to get rid of "strange" subscribers to your newsletter? I have recently received plenty of new subscribers, but they don't look like real subscribers. I can't get why spammy ppl are signing up for a newsletter?

I have to talk with my newsletter provider, Revue, about this issue.

litmusapp:

Great tips by Joanna Wiebe.

In the future, please remove, "LinesLitmus Blog" in the subject line of the entries to BizSugar. It is easier to read then! ;)

All the Best,
