Why are there so many talented freelancers willing to work for minimum wage? Because most of them are competing for the same low budget projects using the same entry level advertising.

Diagramfield: I like the illustrative video. Do you know if the most of the free lancers have their own writing hub as a reference guide for potential clients?

I think the main reason is that most of them are just starting with the freelancing job and are still testing the water while also getting some 5 start ranks on the various freelancing job sites they belong to like Odesk and Freelancer. Just my own thought. Thanks for sharing this with the bizsugar community.

Totally agree Val.

The risk that they face though is that they may mistake that particular type of marketplace (high supply, low demand) with the actual market for their type of service.

While gaining experience and samples when just starting out is very important, my hope is that aspiring freelancers look beyond these crowded directories and learn how to market their services in a way that doesn't rely on being the lowest bidder.

Cheers!
