The upcoming generation is spending more time on IM / Facebook / mobile than using email. I listened to an interesting presentation of a new mobile marketing idea called "pennies / manna from heaven". You get special offers when you add your mobile number to a site. You get the offers depending on where you are located at the moment. The offers are linked to the GPS parameter in your phone. So, you go on a street and when you come close to a coffee-shops, "bing" --> an offer / rebate coupon appears in a SMS. You get "credits" for taking advantage of the offers. You could also start your own stream for a specific cause, e.g. your soccer club. This idea was presented at the Swedish version of Dragons' Den. They call it Just-In-Time marketing.
