I met with one of the trainers on our team right after the first of the year to talk about a few of his client projects, and he shared, “I’m really concerned about the young professionals at ABC Corporation. The theme, as I talk with them, is that they’re unhappy with the lack of forward thinking at their company. I think some of them will leave. And, I don’t think the leadership gets it at all.”
You may recall, in an earlier column, I made note of a client who shared with me that all of the Gen Y employees hired in 2010 were gone by mid 2011.
A quick aside: If you’re not retaining your young professionals, you may be interested in knowing the cost of turnover. I came across a handy calculator to help you with this: http://www.cepr.net/calculators/turnover_calc.html
