Should we try to please everyone? I do not think we can please everyone. I do believe some jerks have desirable attitudes that is why most of them are successful in business. But I do think also that the top is the loneliest place to be when you have stepped on people's toes along the way , just to go directly to the top.

I remember reading a study that those who act like jerks are seen as being more powerful, confident, and competent than those who act more pleasant.

I have seen some jerks succeeding online like Donald Trump but I wouldn't agree with steve Job being a jerk because he had truly shown the world what it takes to succeed online.

You don't have to be a jerk, but you should stand up for your ideas! In some eyes that would bee seen as a rude behavior, but I don't care about that! ;)

Lyceum - Excellent point. That is exactly what I want to convey. You do need to be tough and stand up for your vision without being a "jerk" as described in the article.
