The statement: "you are loaning money to your clients," is really a wake-up call. How often is it the case that you could get pre-paid, or an partial down payment at the start of the job? I will make a philosophical point and say that I want to get paid in real money, i.e., gold and silver coins or bullion bars. They could pay one part in paper fiat currency (as we are forced into this system of promissory notes without any real backing) at the order, and then real money at the end as a support of an objective standard of money.
