Even none of your ex-employees or ex-customers can do the damage for you: Those that speak bad words about your business but haven't even related or do business with you, not even once.

People are easy to buzz negative rep, but slow to buzz good words :/

Great post about the double edged sword of the social media revolution. Of course, customers who feel they have received inadequate service can be equally problematic. In a way though, while a headache to some small businesses, this brings a level of accountability that should help you build your brand if handled correctly.
