I am definitely in the camp of being for having an RSS icon on a site. Some marketers opt out of doing that on purpose because they want to force folks to subscribe by email. I personally will just 'find' the RSS feed even if there's no icon ;)

Why would a marketer force his/her folks to subscribe to their feeds? It is absolutely insane because the reader knows the feed to subscribe to.
