There are over 48 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute. So what makes these video’s go viral? How can a search term gain momentum so quickly in such a short period of time? Well according to Kevin Allocca, the trends manager at YouTube, there are three main things that combine to achieve this.

Great post. With video, usually the ones that goes truly viral are the outrageous ones or hilarious ones. I don't know if I'll be doing the harlem shake anytime soon in my vids, but I can tell a joke or two. :)

Thanks for commenting Ti. The Harlem Shake sure does define outrageous. I think there are many other ways to appeal to peoples emotions through video without being quite so "in your face". One of my favourite YouTubers is Glozel "Is You ok?". If you havent heard of her, she is worth checking out. If only for the side splitting laughter - Hayley
