Here’s something funny I read online…

“Today, I thought I felt my cell phone vibrating. Turned out it was just my girlfriend letting out a vicious fart against my leg.”

Sheesh, she doesn’t sound very delicate does she?

But this is a classic case of assuming things before getting the real facts.

It reminds a bit of writing sales letters and emails by guessing what people really want.

Hi Scott,

My takeaway from your post is probably not what you might want it to be; but it's this:

Personally, I love it when I look at a headline that isn't pedestrian and seems almost like a non-sequitur; however I find it's only effective when I know the context--the forum, website, platform--is specifically what I want and that it is moderated so that only content in my preferred niche gets through, much like your post here. So I know BizSugar is a small business social bookmarking site, and I know your work to some extent, so I know if you have a headline like this it's going to, in some way, be business related. IOW, if I found this title on some random, non-moderated site, I might dismiss it off hand as irrelevant. True, things aren't always what they seem or what someone might be looking for. I feel my takeaway from your post is just as valid as the part about email, so I guess the post is good on a couple levels.

Great fun!

Heather
