Hi Joanie,

I think data collection is a big deal here. Of course, the truth is, (and I'm sure you've seen this yourself) that the real question is not only whether companies collect data but whether they effectively use the data they've collected to build those relationships. It seems counter intuitive that a company would collect data and then not use it, but I've been told it happens a lot.

Absolutely it does! Part of the problem is that many businesses don't realize what valuable information they have in that data. I've always said that more departments need to act a little more like the marketing department, using analytics to understand more about what's happening.
