QR codes are primarily marketing tools, and are basically upgraded barcodes that allow a person to scan them with their smartphone, upon which a person is led to a website, or shown a coupon that they can show at your store for a discount; or they can be shown a short video, etc.

They are all mostly free to download, so make sure it's the one that's most used depending on the platform.

Do you have some examples of successful marketing campaigns, using Quick Read codes? I have seen some newspapers (tabloids) been using it, and you now and then get a business card with a QR image, but the usage of QR hasn't exploded, I think.

All the examples I have are linked in the article. There are a few more examples you can find by simple Google search. However, European culture isn't big on QR codes as Asia and North America are. The goal of this article is to help small businesses connect with their offline audience online or at the very least find an affordable way to promote their small business if they don't have a big marketing budget.
